Xuekai Qian is a senior partner at Dentons. He focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial and business laws, Sino-foreign joint ventures, China outbound investment, domestic litigation and international commercial arbitration. Over the years, Xuekai has advised clients both from China and around the world, including stated-owned enterprises and private companies, in particular, in the sectors of mining and energy, engineering construction and manufacturing.
Before joining Dentons, he worked at a local Chinese law firm as a managing partner and also worked with the Ministry of Land and Resources (formerly the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources) prior to private practice.
In 2012, Xuekai was honored with the title of “The Top 100 Excellent Lawyers of Beijing” by the Beijing Lawyers Association (2009–2011).

- Counsel to Rio Tinto China exploration team (10 years).
- Counsel to Ferro Atlantica in respect of its acquisition of quartz mines in several provinces of China.
- Counsel to China Minmetals Corporation with a particular emphasis on mineral resource projects in China and abroad such as Canada, Australia and Zambia.
- Counsel to Anhui Foreign Economic Cooperation Construction Group on its mineral project in Mozambique.
- Counsel to Inner Mongolia Guangna Goal Industry Group on its Sino-Mongolian border port construction project and acquisition with AGM on its Mongolian mineral projects.
